Cake Shows in the United States


Annual competition that takes place on both levels ofthe La Jolla Square Mall. Proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego. Cake entries include professional, amateur, adults and children categories. There will be a Grand Wedding Cake Competition for highly skilled cake decorators. Prizes will be awarded for all winners. Demonstrations will be held on both days.


The Sweet Times in the Rockies show is put on by the Colorado chapter of ICES, the largest cake decorating club in the world. This event has both tasting and sugar art contests. The tasting competitions are judged by taste, eye appeal, effective use of ingredients, aftertaste and proper recipe documentation. The sugar art contest winners are awarded by skill, eye appeal, originality, creativity, neatness, techniques used and color combination.


Join this annual competition of the Panhandle Cake Club. The theme of their tenth show is Fabric/Textile. Entrance categories are masters, professional, intermediate, beginners, youth, children and taste.

If you love chocolate this is the place to be. Meet chocolatiers from around the country and sample chocolates. Learn how to use chocolate in the many demonstrations.


Join the live teen competition and be eligible to win up to $6000 in prizes. Competitors of any age are invited to compete in the cake competition.


The theme for this year’s show is Steampunk. The Urban Dictionary defines steampunk as a subgenre of speculative fiction, usually set in an anachronistic Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate history setting. It could be described by the slogan “What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner.” It includes fiction with science fiction, fantasy or horror themes. This should be interesting and fun!


The UMBA is an association of bakers, cake decorators, bakery employees, food service personnel, and partner businesses involved in the baking industry. Come network, learn and share ideas.

New Jersey

Not only does the Atlantic Baking Exposition have a cake decorating competition but many baking, cake decorating and cake business sessions. Examples of some of the classes are 3D Cake Carving, Painting On Cakes, Pricing for Profit, Gluten free baking and Marketing your Cake Business.

One of the only shows with a cupcake challenge. Economical classes include Adult beginner, Youth and Creation station.
